Valentine Heart Art - Fabric & Canvas

I needed a little pick-me-up today and so I made this Valentine Heart Art.  Here is how you make one:
Supplies:
Art Canvas
Fabric scraps - I used only red and aqua
Deco Page (Mod Podge)
Sponge Brush
Let's get started!!
Begin cutting out random heart shapes in a variety of sizes.  I didn't use a pattern and every heart is different!
Keep cutting.  I laid out my pattern as I went so I knew what sizes to cut. Now start deco paging.  With your sponge brush paint the glue under the heart, then over the heart, making sure to coat well.  (nice cereal bowl in the background...I was eating breakfast and crafting!)

Let dry completely and you are done!

I was hoping to frame mine but I chose an odd size canvas....hmmmmm.  Oh well, I will hang it up anyway!

 HAPPY!!!!

Alpine Wonderland Update - Free Quilt Pattern

I was looking around on allpeoplequilt.com and I came across the pattern I used in my Alpine Wonderland quilt.  You can download it for free!  Click HERE to check it out!
(This is the photo from the original pattern)

The Bella Clutch from Clover & Violet

The cute girls at Clover & Violet are offering this darling clutch pattern for free.  Click HERE to check it out!  I sewed one up last night and the pattern is easy to follow and it is super cute!!  You should make one!!
I didn't add a strap to mine as I will use it inside my purse.  I also quilted it with batting.   I love how it is puffy and can stand up on it's own!  I choose these colors because I only had purple zippers on hand - yikes!  better order some more!

Feeling a little thrifty

Every Tuesday our town as an open air flea market.  I go like once every 2 years (it's kind of junky).  Today was the perfect day to go - warm and sunny.
I picked up two chairs.  I recently sold my dining room table and chairs to my friend.  My hubby has promised to make me a custom farm table - look for posts on that fun project!  I got the chairs for $7 each - not bad!
I also picked up these two windows - I need more windows like I need a hole in the head - but I couldn't pass them up at $5 each!

I Whale always Love You

I am loving anything with whales!!  I had to make something fun for Valentine's Day!  You can make one too!!  Scroll down for the pattern and tutorial!

This one is with not so traditional Valentine's colors - I needed something to hang in the guest bathroom.

To make this Whale Valentine's Day Art follow the steps below:

Click HERE for the purple and aqua "I whale always love you"
Click HERE for the red & aqua one
Click HERE for a neutral color one with cream background and grey letters

Download whale and heart image HERE.  Draw the images on a piece of fusable webbing (Heat Bond or Wonder Under etc).  Cut it out larger than the outline of the whale (do not cut on the line).  Using a HOT iron, press the whale onto the WRONG side of your fabric for a few seconds.  Do the same thing for the heart.
Now cut out the images on the line.  Peal the paper off the fusable webbing and position the whale and heart where you want them.
Press the images with the hot iron for a few seconds.
I sewed around the whale and the heart.  You don't have to do this step - the fabric will stay on the paper fine.
 Frame as desired!!

My latest Pyrex find

These are my latest vintage Pyrex finds when I went thrifting over the winter break.  It's a large oval casserole in spring flowers and then a divided casserole in square flowers verde.  They are in great condition too!!  I paid $5 each!!!

ABC Baby Quilt

My friend had her baby 7 weeks early.  They are now doing well and are home.  I made little Max this baby quilt.  I had planned to make more of a pieced quilt but when I went to the fabric store I fell in love whit this alphabet panel.  The colors are darling and the animals are cuter than any other I've seen!  It's called "Aldo to Zippy" by P&B.

I cut the panel out then sewed a 2" white border, a 4 1/2" polka dot boarder, and a 1 1/2" orange boarder. (those are the cut sizes)  It's bound with turquoise polka dot fabric.

Here are a few close ups of my favorite animals:

The back is soft grey flannel with a strip of the coordinating fabric.

I'm Back and Happy New Year!

I took quite some time off from blogging.  I enjoyed Christmas with my family at home, New Year's with more family at my sister's in Arizona, and another week of Winter Break in the San Francisco area with more family!!  It's been a very restful break and I can't believe it is over and the children are off to school.  Now I am ready to get back into the swing of things....I think!  How about you?

This is a silly picture of myself at the Hobby Lobby after Christmas sale.  We don't have one where I live so I went with my sister in Arizona.  It never disappoints!  2 carts full!!

Looking forward to a HAPPY new year :)

Hot Cocoa Bar

I helped with my friend's wedding and I was put in charge of the "Hot Cocoa Bar".  This is my new favorite dessert!!  We had every topping you could think of: crushed peppermints, chocolate sprinkles, chocolate chips, peppermint Hershey's Kisses, Caramel balls, caramel topping, caramel flavoring, vanilla flavoring, cinnamon, marshmallows, peppermint marshmallows, giant marshmallows, and of course whipping cream!!

I love the barrels and the old door used as a table top!
The children loved the giant marshmallows which were meant for decoration but through the night they managed to disappear!  We covered the whipping cream canisters with decorative paper.  We tied matching labels on all the items with red & white baker's twine.

The cocoa bar was a hit - there was a constant line at the table the whole night!!
